Is it common for parents to prevent their kids to make money before they finish school?
My parents didnt want me to worry abt money as a kid, they afraid that I was gonna get sucked into working and stop studying/learning
I can understand why they have this logic - people make money and they feel content with where they are, so they stop trying to improve themselves.
But is this the case for most people?
Here’s what happened to me.
At the age of 18, after a few weeks into my first job (kitchen staff/doing dishes/prepwork), I grew to hate it, extremely.
My though at the time was, how do I get a better job with better pay, and less hectic work.
After that first job, I left to work at an office, doing phone calls and basic admin tasks (a lot of paperwork crap)
At the beginning of this job, it was challenging, I learned various of skills, it was in facr very enjoyable because I get to do and learn things that I never get exposure to.
And ofc a few years went by, I felt like I’ve learnt enough, the work became dull and less challenging.
And you know what happenened?
I went back into the mode of looking for a better opportunity, with better pay and more challenging.
I can go on and on about what happened after this office job, but that’s another story for another day.
Back to my point at the beginning I dont understand the logic behind not letting your kids get exposure to Money/Making money?
