Just listen a podcast from Andrew Huberman abt Dopamine and this story caught my attention
At a Kindegarden, these kids love to draw, they draw everyday at school
Then the teachers start rewarding them a star for every finished drawing
Then one day, the teacher no longer give them stars, and over time the kids stopped drawing completely
They associated the stars—external rewards— as something they should be drawing for versus before, they were just drawing out of curiosity and for the love of creating and playing with crayons
So you gotta be extra careful when you want to motivate yourself doing something, don’t set your purpose on external rewards otherwise, you wont get very far when the external rewards dry up
